چکیده
Abstract In the present work, a seismic analysis was performed in advance on limestone rock slope (height = 150 m) outcropping along Tagliamento River valley, Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, north-eastern Italy. The analysed is characterised by strong mass damage, thus resulting critical stability condition (unstable volume 110,000–200,000 m 3 ). adopting 2D finite difference method (FDM) and employing both pseudo-static approach non-linear dynamic approach. Model outcomes demonstrate that motion induces internal, localised ruptures within mass. Some important differences mechanical behaviour of were highlighted, depending specific modelling assumed. When approach, failure occurs for PGA values ranging between 0.056 g 0.124 g, different initial static assumed (Strength Reduction Factor SRF 1.00–1.15). According to achieved varying 0.213 g. Pre-collapse displacements calculated with (12–15 cm) are much more greater than those obtained through (0.5–3 mm). results also testify topographic amplification 1.5 times target acceleration at face 2.5 toe.

Numerical probabilistic analysis for slope stability in fractured rock masses using DFN-DEM approach
Due to existence of uncertainties in input geometrical properties of fractures, there is not any unique solution for assessing the stability of slopes in jointed rock masses. Therefore, the necessity of applying probabilistic analysis in these cases is inevitable. In this study a probabilistic analysis procedure together with relevant algorithms are developed using Discrete Fracture Network-Dis...

متن کاملA NEW APPROACH FOR EVALUATION OF SEISMIC SLOPE PERFORMANCE
The evaluation of seismic slope performance during earthquakes is important, because the failure of slope (such as an earth dam, natural slope, or constructed earth embankment) can result in significant financial losses and human. It is important, therefore, to be able to forecast such displacements induced by earthquake. However, the traditional forecasting methods, such as empirical formulae,...
متن کاملDiscontinued Rock Slope Analysis through a New TFS-KGM Analytical Method
Slope stability analysis of jointed rocks has been the focus of many studies. The presence of joints and discontinuities in rock environments intensifies instability along with the development of block movements. Many analytical and numerical methods have been proposed and applied to analyze the stability of jointed rock slopes. Computation complexity, incapability of presenting a reliable safe...
متن کاملVariables Characteristics Effects on Static and Pseudo-Static Reliability-Based Design of near Slope Shallow Foundations
Given the concept of reliability-based design (RBD) and the growing risk management trend in geotechnical engineering, proper understanding and quantification of uncertainties are very important. The complexity of methods and a large volume of calculations of probabilistic design methods are the most critical reasons for civil engineers not to be comfortable using these approaches. In this rese...
